Brake Shoe Segments
In Stock
Brake shoe segments, bolt on friction blocks for large industrial and mining drum brakes.
Brake shoe segments are the bolt-on or riveted friction blocks used on large industrial and mining drum brakes. They let you replace worn friction material in sections rather than swapping out an entire shoe assembly, which cuts both downtime and cost on heavy plant.
Where brake shoe segments are used
On large diameter drum brakes, a full shoe is heavy, expensive and often has a long lead time. Segments solve that. Worn blocks come off and new ones go on against the same shoe body, and the machine is back in service the same shift.
Common applications:
- Mining winders, conveyors and hoists
- Industrial drum brakes on heavy plant
- Cranes and lifting equipment
- Large capacity winches
- Heavy commercial and off-road equipment

If you are working on a standard vehicle drum brake rather than industrial plant, you probably want our brake shoes or brake linings instead. Not sure which you are looking at? Send us a photo.
Not sure which part you need?
Send us a photograph or the dimensions and we will identify the exact part for you. It is a free service we have run for years, and it is the fastest way to get the right component when the old part has no legible markings left on it. Get in touch or send the details through and we will come back to you.
Ordering brake shoe segments
Brake shoe segments are manufactured to suit your shoe design, so send a sample or the dimensions and we will quote on a matched set.
Frequently asked questions
Can you match segments to an existing shoe?
Yes. Send us a worn segment, a photograph or the dimensions and we will manufacture or match the correct replacement.
How is this different from a brake lining?
A lining is a continuous strip of friction material fitted along the shoe table. Segments are individual blocks fitted in a series, used where drum diameters and loads are too large for a conventional lining.
